Y Le Parfum, inspired by Yves Saint Laurent Y Le Parfum (2021)

Y Le Parfum starts with apple and grapefruit cut with ginger and an aldehydic sparkle. Lavender, sage and geranium form the aromatic core, the same fougère structure as the rest of the Y line but pitched lower. In the base, tonka bean sweetens cedar and patchouli, while olibanum, the resin also known as frankincense, adds a dry, smoky note.

About the original

Dominique Ropion and Claire Liégent are credited with the 2021 Y Le Parfum, the most intense Y at the time of its launch. Perfume databases report that in 2025 it was replaced by a reworked, less sweet Y Le Parfum, and the notes YSL now lists (geranium, pine, patchouli and fir balsam) match that newer version. YSL has not, as far as we can find, announced the change, but bottles sold under the name today appear to be the newer formula, while this page follows the 2021 composition.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Yves Saint Laurent stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Evening wear and cold weather suit it best, as the tonka and apple give it a sweeter, denser feel than Y Eau de Toilette. The 2025 version, reportedly drier and led by pine, is a different scent from the one described here.

Which Y Le Parfum is this, 2021 or 2025?

This page follows the 2021 formula, with apple, lavender and tonka bean. The 2025 version sold under the same name is reported to be a different composition, with pine and fir balsam in YSL's own note list.

How does Y Le Parfum differ from Y Eau de Toilette?

It is sweeter and deeper, with apple and tonka bean where the Eau de Toilette is cleaner and more aldehydic. We make both.
