Amyris Homme, inspired by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Amyris homme (2012)

Amyris homme starts crisp and aromatic, with mandarin peel and herbal rosemary, and a pinch of saffron adding a faintly leathery spice. Amyris itself is a pale wood oil, sometimes called West Indian sandalwood, that smells smooth, slightly peppery and resinous. Paired with iris it gives a dry, powdery woodiness, cool rather than cosy. Tonka bean absolute and cedar settle underneath, adding a hay-like warmth that keeps it from feeling austere.

About the original

Francis Kurkdjian launched Amyris homme in 2012 together with Amyris femme. The brand calls the Eau de Toilette a masculine take on the flamboyant pair created by amyris and iris. An Amyris homme Extrait de Parfum was added later and is also sold today. This page describes the Eau de Toilette, which is where the notes listed here come from.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Maison Francis Kurkdjian stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Men looking for a woody-iris scent that feels tidy and refined will be well served. The iris gives a slightly powdery texture, which can feel a little formal to anyone wanting a more casual citrus scent.

Is Amyris homme the same as Amyris femme?

No. They were launched together in 2012 around the same amyris and iris idea, but Amyris femme is a separate fragrance marketed to women.

Does Amyris homme smell powdery?

Somewhat. Iris gives it a dry, powdery edge, balanced by mandarin, rosemary and woods.
