Guidance 46, inspired by Amouage Guidance 46 (2024)

Guidance 46 keeps the pear and hazelnut of the original Guidance but surrounds them with more. Bitter almond and rose water give the opening a marzipan-like, slightly cosmetic glow, and frankincense threads a cool resin through it. Flowers and spice fill the heart, with osmanthus adding a faint apricot-and-leather note to the rose and saffron. Sandalwood, ambergris and vanilla make the base thick and smooth, and cistus casts an ambery shadow over it.

About the original

Amouage launched Guidance 46 in autumn 2024 as an Exceptional Extrait, a follow-up to Guidance, the eau de parfum released in 2023. The number refers to its 46% oil concentration. Quentin Bisch composed it under creative director Renaud Salmon, building on the rose, frankincense and ambergris themes that run through Amouage's work. The box carries artwork by Louise Mertens.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Amouage stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Richness is the point here, and the sweetness of almond, hazelnut and vanilla is noticeable throughout. Guidance fans looking for a denser, more floral and more gourmand version will feel at home; for a clean, dry incense, Decision is the better match.

Pear and hazelnut open with bitter almond, rose water and pink pepper, while frankincense gives the sweetness a cool, resinous counterpoint.

Sandalwood, ambergris and vanilla gather in the base with ambrette and cistus, plus modern woody notes such as Georgywood, akigalawood and cypriol.

Guidance (2023) is the eau de parfum built on pear, hazelnut and frankincense. Guidance 46 is the 2024 Exceptional Extrait, which adds bitter almond, rose water, saffron and osmanthus over a richer amber and vanilla base. We make both.

Is Guidance 46 sweet?

Yes, noticeably. Hazelnut, almond and vanilla give it a gourmand side, balanced by frankincense and rose.
