Mumbai Noise, inspired by Byredo Mumbai Noise (2021)

Davana is a herb whose oil smells fruity and slightly boozy, a bit like dried plums soaked in liqueur, and it gives Mumbai Noise an unusual start. Coffee arrives next, roasted and bitter, with tonka beans rounding it into something closer to sweetened espresso. Beneath that, labdanum adds a dark, ambery resin. Sandalwood and agarwood (the wood that yields oud) bring depth and a faint smokiness.

About the original

Ben Gorham based Mumbai Noise on his memories of the city, and Byredo released it in October 2021. The brand files it under amber, and launch coverage called it rich and smoky. The agarwood in its base gives it common ground with Oud Immortel, Byredo's oud scent usually dated to 2010.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Byredo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Coffee is the hook, but this is darker and woodier than the sugary coffee scents of mainstream perfumery. The agarwood and labdanum add a resinous, smoky depth that some may find heavy.
