Honour Woman, inspired by Amouage Honour Woman (2011)

Pepper and coriander give the opening a cool, prickly feel, and rhubarb leaves add a sour, green tartness. Once the flowers arrive they fill out: jasmine and tuberose are rich and heady, gardenia adds a rounded, almost milky note, and carnation brings a clove-like spice. Underneath, frankincense and opoponax (a sweet, balsamic relative of myrrh) build a resinous base that turns faintly leathery.

About the original

Honour Woman launched in 2011 as the women's side of Amouage's Honour pair, created under creative director Christopher Chong. The brand ties it to the story of Madame Butterfly. Honour Man is a separate scent, and Honour 43 Woman is a later Exceptional Extrait at a higher concentration; this page refers to the original eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Amouage stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lovers of big white florals who dislike sugary versions are its natural audience. It feels rich and polished rather than airy. The pepper at the start and the leather-and-incense finish give it a sterner edge than many tuberose scents, which may not suit someone after a tender, romantic floral.

Tuberose and jasmine form the core with gardenia close behind, joined by lily of the valley for a dewy note and carnation for spice.

The base is resinous and dry: frankincense and opoponax with amber and vetiver, plus a touch of leather.

Honour Woman, the 2011 white floral. Honour Man is a different composition launched alongside it.

How does it differ from Honour 43 Woman?

Honour 43 Woman is Amouage's later Exceptional Extrait, made at a higher concentration than the original eau de parfum. Our version is based on the 2011 eau de parfum.

Is the tuberose overpowering?

Tuberose is prominent but shares space with jasmine and gardenia, and the pepper and incense keep it from becoming syrupy.
