Le Lion

Le Lion, inspired by Chanel Le Lion de Chanel (2020)

Le Lion opens with a flash of lemon and bergamot before the amber arrives. That amber is built on cistus labdanum, a resin with a leathery, almost animal glow, and patchouli, which gives it an earthy, woody depth. Vanilla rounds the edges without turning it into a gourmand. Sandalwood and musk carry the finish.

About the original

Released in May 2020 in Les Exclusifs de Chanel, Le Lion de Chanel is the work of Olivier Polge. It was first exclusive to the Middle East, with wider distribution from early 2021. The name refers to Gabrielle Chanel's star sign, Leo, and to the lion she took as an emblem. Chanel calls it an amber Eau de Parfum with amber-woody, leathery accents.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Chanel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Compared with Coromandel, it is more leathery and has a citrus opening. Rich and resinous, it is an amber for amber lovers, and the leathery labdanum may feel too dark for someone who prefers clean or floral scents.

Is Le Lion de Chanel sweet?

Only moderately. Vanilla tempers it, but labdanum, patchouli and citrus keep it from tasting like dessert.
