Olivier Creed’s 2005 luminous white floral. Orange into daffodil, magnolia, jasmine and iris, on a unique rice husk, vanilla and sandalwood base. Rebuilt at 40 percent oil.
The Luminous White Floral, 2005
Love in White launched in 2005, composed by Olivier Creed as one of the brand’s most ethereal feminine compositions. The brief was an innocent luminous white floral built around orange at the opening, daffodil, magnolia, jasmine and iris at the heart, and an unusual base of rice husk, vanilla, sandalwood and ambergris. The rice husk note (a distinctive cereal-creamy accord) gave the composition a unique soft texture that distinguishes it from typical white floral feminines. Distribution has narrowed considerably as Creed focuses on bestsellers, and Love in White now circulates primarily through resale platforms. Our interpretation respects the luminous innocent character.
How It Smells
The opening is bright and slightly fruity, orange leading with its juicy citrus character, and a quiet floral edge appearing through the early phase. Within fifteen minutes the floral heart unfolds with classical complexity: daffodil takes a leading role with its distinctive yellow floral character, magnolia adds a slightly lemony white floral support, jasmine contributes creamier white floral depth, and iris provides cool grey powdered floral support that anchors the heart. The base is where Love in White reveals its unique identity. Rice husk provides the composition’s signature soft cereal-creamy character, vanilla adds quiet gourmand warmth, sandalwood gives creamy wood depth, and ambergris contributes salty mineral warmth (the trademark Creed signature). The overall impression is innocent luminous floral luxury.
The Notes
Top: orange.
Heart: daffodil, magnolia, jasmine, iris.
Base: rice husk, vanilla, sandalwood, ambergris.
How Our Version Compares
With distribution narrowed, fresh Love in White has become harder to source. Our European Union production at 40 percent perfume oil concentration brings the composition back at proper density, with the orange opening sparkling cleanly, the white floral heart holding through the wearing, and the rice husk vanilla sandalwood drydown lasting well into the next day on clothing.
Common Questions
What does rice husk actually smell like?
Soft, slightly cereal, creamy. The rice husk accord provides Love in White’s signature distinctive texture, bridging the white floral heart to the vanilla sandalwood base. It is what makes the composition recognisably itself rather than another generic white floral.
How does it compare to Love in Black?
Opposite character. Love in White is luminous innocent and bright with white florals and rice husk. Love in Black is dark confident and sensual with blackcurrant, rose and clove. They share a Creed signature but feel like different perfumes.
Best occasion?
Versatile across daytime and casual evening. The polished innocent character makes Love in White well suited to spring weddings, daytime occasions and warm-weather wear. Many wearers reach for it as a wedding signature.
How long does it last?
Eight to ten hours at our concentration, with the rice husk vanilla sandalwood drydown lingering on clothing into the next day. The 40 percent oil approach extends the wearing significantly beyond the original.
