White Diamonds, inspired by Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds (1991)

White Diamonds opens thick with flowers: tuberose and lily carry most of the weight, and neroli adds a clean, bitter-orange lift. Orris, the dried root of the iris, brings a dusty, lipstick-like powder to the heart, while narcissus gives it a faint hay tone. Underneath, oakmoss and patchouli form a dark, slightly earthy floor of the kind found in classic chypres. The result feels formal and polished rather than airy.

About the original

Carlos Benaïm composed White Diamonds together with Elizabeth Taylor, and it was launched in 1991 by Parfums International / Elizabeth Arden. The Fragrance Foundation inducted it into its Hall of Fame in 2009. The brand now sits within Revlon's House of Taylor, and 20% of sales go to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. In July 2026 a separate White Diamonds Icon eau de parfum was added for the 35th anniversary as an addition to the range; this page refers to the 1991 original.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Elizabeth Taylor stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Admirers of classic, formal florals will recognise its style at once. It is rich and powdery with an aldehydic shimmer, so it can feel old-fashioned next to fruity or gourmand perfumes, and the mossy base gives it more gravity than a modern white floral.

Tuberose, lily and neroli arrive together, heady and slightly soapy, with an aldehydic sparkle on top.

In the heart the orris turns things powdery, while narcissus and amber add depth and a resinous roundness.

The drydown rests on oakmoss, patchouli and sandalwood: dry, mossy and faintly woody, in the old chypre manner.

Is this the original White Diamonds or White Diamonds Icon?

The original from 1991. White Diamonds Icon is a separate eau de parfum launched in July 2026 for the fragrance's 35th anniversary.

Is White Diamonds a sweet perfume?

Not in the modern sense. Its richness comes from tuberose, orris and oakmoss rather than from sugar or vanilla.
