Max Mara, inspired by Max Mara Le Parfum (2008)

The 2008 Le Parfum starts with a spiced fruit accord: pink pepper and nutmeg flower around the yellow-plum sweetness of mirabelle. Rose, tiare and freesia form a light floral layer that never becomes dense. What defines it is musk, which press reports at launch put at around 60 per cent of the formula, giving the whole scent a smooth, clean-skin feel. Lime wood, rosewood and sandalwood give the musk some structure.

About the original

Le Parfum was unveiled in November 2007 and launched in 2008 as the first Max Mara fragrance under the Selective Beauty licence. Cosmetics Business credited it to Vincent Schaller of Firmenich. Launch press noted its unusually high proportion of musk.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Max Mara stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Musk lovers are the obvious audience, since musk was reported to make up most of the formula. It is sheer and quiet in character. A big floral bouquet or a sweet vanilla trail is not what it offers, so it can read as understated.
