Mukhalat, inspired by Montale Mukhallat (2008)

Mukhallat opens with wild strawberry and almond, a fruity top with a nutty, marzipan-like edge. Vanilla arrives quickly and dominates from then on. Peru balsam, a tree resin that smells of vanilla with a faint cinnamon spice, deepens it, and white musk keeps the base smooth rather than sticky.

About the original

Montale, the Paris niche house, sells Mukhallat in its Gourmand family and calls it the quintessential oriental gourmand. fragrance references list it as a 2008 release; the brand itself gives no year. Montale spells the name Mukhallat, although Mukhalat also appears in the brand's web address and at some retailers. It is still part of Montale's range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Montale stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Sweetness is the whole point here, and it does not let up. A Belgian retailer suggests it for cool evenings, which suits its dense vanilla base. Buyers hoping for a light, fresh strawberry scent may find it too rich.

Mukhalat or Mukhallat: which spelling is right?

Montale spells it Mukhallat, but Mukhalat is common online and in our store name. Both refer to the same Montale scent.

Is Mukhallat very sweet?

Yes. Montale classes it as a gourmand, and vanilla with Peru balsam carries most of the scent.

Inside the EU, delivery is free on orders of €49 or more. Below that it is a flat €4.99. Outside the EU, delivery is a flat €4.99 on every order. We send every order in 1 to 2 working days. It arrives in 3 to 7 days across the EU and in 7 to 14 days outside the EU. You have 14 days to return an unopened bottle.

Mukhalat is one of our own house fragrances. It was composed in house by our own perfumers and is not based on, or a copy of, any single branded perfume. It sits in the sweet Arabian gourmand family, and any resemblance to other scents on the market is incidental rather than intended. As a house fragrance it is made in the EU to the same standard as the rest of our range, and it is sold under our own name with no connection to any other brand.
