Musc Ravageur, inspired by Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle Musc Ravageur (2000)

A quick burst of bergamot, mandarin and lavender opens Musc Ravageur, and it is gone almost as soon as you notice it. Cinnamon and clove spice then lead into thick amber and vanilla, which many compare to gingerbread. Musk runs through the whole thing, giving the sweetness a skin-like warmth. Sandalwood and other woods sit beneath, so it never becomes purely edible.

About the original

Maurice Roucel created Musc Ravageur for Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, and it was among the house's first releases in 2000. It is widely regarded as a landmark of the modern amber style. Malle's own short note list names bergamot, tangerine, cinnamon, vanilla, musk and amber, while some retailers add clove, guaiac wood, tonka and cedar. The name is shared by shower and hair products, but the perfume itself is the eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits
