Obsession

Parfumour's Interpretation of Calvin Klein Obsession

Obsession is a warm spicy oriental, and our version keeps that feel: a fresh spiced opening, a rich floral heart, and a warm ambery base.

The Story Behind the Scent

Released in 1985 and crafted by perfumer Bob Slattery, Calvin Klein Obsession is one of the most iconic feminine fragrances of the 20th century, a bold oriental spicy built around warm spices, jasmine, amber and myrrh.

Our interpretation follows that character. We keep the bergamot, mandarin and spices warm up top, let jasmine, sandalwood and myrrh carry the middle, and finish on a rich amber, musk and vanilla base.

How Our Version Compares to the Original

The original is a designer classic. We build ours at a higher perfume oil concentration so the spice and amber last longer, while keeping the same bold character.

Who It's For

It suits anyone who wants a bold, warm, spicy oriental for evenings and cooler weather.

Top notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, Spices

Heart notes: Jasmine, Sandalwood, Myrrh

Base notes: Amber, Musk, Vanilla

It opens warm and spiced, with bergamot, mandarin and rich spices giving a bold lift.

The heart is deep and floral, with jasmine, sandalwood and myrrh adding warmth.

The base is rich and warm, with amber, musk and vanilla giving a sensual, lasting finish.

How close is it to Calvin Klein Obsession?

It follows the warm, spicy, ambery oriental character of the original closely. It is our own interpretation rather than a copy, but the impression is very familiar.

Is it stronger than the original?

We build ours as an eau de parfum with a high perfume oil load, so most people find it projects and lasts as well as, or better than, the original release.

Is this the same perfume as Calvin Klein Obsession?

No. We do not use the same formula or ingredients. It is an independent interpretation made to evoke the same style, so you can enjoy the character at our price.

How long does it last?

You can expect several hours on skin. Spraying onto clothing as well as skin helps it last even longer.

Who is it best for?

It leans feminine and is made for evenings and cooler weather.

How should I apply it?

Spray on pulse points such as the wrists, neck and inner elbows. A light spritz on clothing makes it last through the day.
