Sacred Water

Sacred Water, inspired by The Harmonist Sacred Water (2021)

Citron and mandarin give a clean, pithy opening, and fresh ginger adds a tingle rather than heat. The heart turns coastal: laminaria seaweed brings a salty, iodine-like note, with magnolia and orange blossom keeping it airy. Below that, amyris (a Caribbean wood with a smell close to sandalwood) and cedar settle into grey amber, which reads mineral. Who What Wear sums it up as waves and saltwater.

About the original

The Harmonist, a house founded by Lola Tillyaeva, built its collection of ten scents around the five Feng Shui elements, each in a Yin and a Yang version. Sacred Water is the Yang version of Water; its Yin counterpart, Guiding Water, is a different fragrance. Retailers credit the line to perfumer Guillaume Flavigny working with Tillyaeva. The refillable Pochet glass bottles, designed by Tillyaeva with Commission Studio, were finalists for Packaging of the Year (Luxury) at the Fragrance Foundation awards. The original is a parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not The Harmonist stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lovers of marine and mineral scents get a citrus-and-seaweed take that never turns syrupy. Retailers present it for everyday wear. One review notes a mossy, slightly musty undertone like a seaside house, which not everyone will enjoy.

Salty and slightly iodine-like, with a damp green edge. It gives Sacred Water its sea-air feel.
