Ocean Leather, inspired by Memo Paris Ocean Leather (2020)

Citrus comes first, lemon and Madagascar mandarin sparked with pink pepper. Clary sage then brings an herbal, slightly musky tone, and the aquatic accord adds a cool, saline clarity with cedarwood in support. Later the base turns darker, pairing a marine leather accord with Haitian vetiver, while labdanum, a resin with an ambery, leathery depth, adds weight. What makes it interesting is how sea-fresh notes give way to something earthy.

About the original

Memo Paris added Ocean Leather to its Cuirs Nomades leather collection in 2020. The house frames it around the ocean and the whales of the Pacific. Memo's site connects it with perfumer Aliénor Massenet. Its official description also mentions elemi, a resin with a lemony, peppery scent.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Memo Paris stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Aquatic fans who find most marine scents thin will appreciate the leather and resin underneath. It begins crisp and saline but finishes earthy, so it is neither a pure fresh scent nor a heavy leather. Buyers expecting the smoky leather of a classic cuir may find it too clean.

Russian Leather is an aromatic fougère leather with mint, pine and herbs. Ocean Leather is aquatic, with citrus, sage and a salty accord over vetiver.
