Aqva, inspired by Bvlgari Aqva Pour Homme (2005)

Aqva opens on mandarin and orange, with petitgrain (distilled from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree) adding a green, slightly bitter edge. The heart is what sets it apart: Posidonia seaweed gives a salty, mineral, almost wet-stone impression rather than the usual ozonic sea note. Lavender and cotton flower keep it clean. Cedar, patchouli, clary sage and amber make the base dry and faintly ambery.

About the original

Jacques Cavallier composed Aqva Pour Homme for Bvlgari in 2005, and it started a whole line: Marine (2008), Amara (2014), Aqva Divina (2015) and Atlantiqve (2017). Its seaweed accord gives it a mineral, salty character. A 2021 forum thread found it still on sale in Europe, but by 2024 it had gone from Bvlgari's official sites. It is reported as discontinued, with some sightings in duty-free shops.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Bvlgari stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Heatwaves and holidays bring out its best. It feels crisp and cool on skin, never sweet. Men who dislike salty or marine notes should look at something more citrus-led instead.

The original Aqva Pour Homme from 2005. Marine and Atlantiqve are later flankers; we also make Atlantiqve.

Is Bvlgari Aqva Pour Homme still sold?

It no longer appears on Bvlgari's official sites and is reported as discontinued, although some travel retail shops may still have stock.

What does Posidonia seaweed smell like?

Salty, mineral and slightly green, like sea air over wet rocks. It is the note that defines Aqva.

Is Bvlgari Aqva coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Bvlgari that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
