Black Orchid Reserve, inspired by Tom Ford Black Orchid Reserve Eau de Parfum (2025)

Ylang ylang arrives first, rich and banana-tinged, and timut pepper (a Nepalese pepper with a grapefruit-like zing) keeps it from turning heavy. A ghost orchid accord gives the heart a cool white-floral glow. Then the Black Orchid signature comes through, twice as concentrated according to the brand: black truffle and dark chocolate, earthy and bittersweet. Roasted tonka, patchouli and amber close it out in a dense, chypre-like base.

About the original

Tom Ford released Black Orchid Reserve in September 2025 as part of its Signature range, in 50 ml and 100 ml. Yann Vasnier composed it, and official press says it carries double the original's signature accord, with the ghost orchid scent captured by headspace technology. Tilda Swinton fronted the campaign under the creative direction of Haider Ackermann, photographed by Inez and Vinoodh. The original is an eau de parfum, and it is distinct from Black Orchid eau de parfum, parfum and eau de toilette.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Black Orchid devotees are the obvious audience, since the brand frames this as a deeper, darker version. One major retailer suggests it for evenings and special occasions. Truffle, chocolate and patchouli make it earthy and rich, and the ylang ylang is heady, so it is a poor choice for someone after a light floral.
