Corfu, inspired by Memo Paris Corfu (2021)

Rhubarb sets the mood: green, sour and slightly sparkling, with bergamot and the leafy tang of blackcurrant bud alongside. The flowers that follow are fresh rather than heady, geranium and lily of the valley gathered around rose. Musk then takes over, and Memo describes the scent as overdosed with it. Patchouli and moss give it the outline of a chypre, the classic family that sets bright top notes over a mossy, earthy base, and the effect moves from fizzy to creamy as it settles.

About the original

Memo Paris launched Corfu in July 2021 within its Graines Vagabondes collection, and retailers often list it as Graines Vagabondes Corfu. The brand calls it a sunny musk and a modern chypre, and ties it to the light of the Greek island. Its launch copy listed many more notes than the pared-down pyramid Memo publishes today, including basil, peach, raspberry and cashmere woods. Memo does not name the perfumer on its site, though CaFleurebon's 2021 review credits Philippe Paparella.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Memo Paris stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Musk lovers are the clearest audience, since the musk carries the scent once the fruit has faded. It is airy rather than rich, and the rhubarb opening is tart enough to surprise anyone expecting a sugary fruit scent.
