Vanilla Haze, inspired by Fugazzi Vanilla Haze (2024)

Vanilla Haze begins with a spoonful of mandarin and coconut milk, then roasted almond and hazelnut take over. That nuttiness is what separates it from a straightforward vanilla. Vanilla pod and tonka bean form the core, with a little jasmine keeping the middle from going flat. The base settles on crème brûlée, white amber and musk, so it reads toasted and custardy rather than syrupy.

About the original

Fugazzi is an independent Amsterdam house founded in 2018 by Bram Niessink. Vanilla Haze arrived as an eau de parfum in 2024. In September 2025 Fugazzi added a Vanilla Haze Extrait de Parfum, a darker, denser take with saffron, clove and caramel, which is a separate composition. Our reference is the 2024 eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Fugazzi stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Gourmand fans who already own a plain vanilla and want one with more texture are the natural audience. Retail copy describes it as sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Coconut and nut notes are both there from the first minute, so check you enjoy them.

Mandarin gives the opening a quick citrus lift, but coconut milk, almond and hazelnut arrive almost at once and set the tone: milky, nutty and a little roasted.

Vanilla pod and tonka bean then carry the heart, with jasmine adding a faint floral sheen underneath the sweetness.

Crème brûlée, white amber and musk make up the base, a caramelised custard accord to finish.

Is this based on the Vanilla Haze eau de parfum or the extrait?

The 2024 eau de parfum, the original version. The 2025 Extrait de Parfum is a different, darker composition with saffron, clove and caramel.

Does Vanilla Haze smell of coconut?

Yes, coconut milk is one of the top notes, though it blends into the almond, hazelnut and vanilla rather than smelling tropical.

How does it compare with other vanilla gourmands?
