Vanilla 28, inspired by Kayali Vanilla | 28 (2018)

Vanilla orchid and creamy jasmine open the scent, so the start is floral as well as sweet. The heart is where Vanilla | 28 earns its name: vanilla infusion and vanilla surabsolute stack up with tonka, which adds an almond-like, hay-tinged sweetness. Brown sugar and amber woods finish the base with musk and a little patchouli, giving the sugar some depth. It is plainly a gourmand and never pretends to be fresh.

About the original

Vanilla | 28 was one of the four fragrances Kayali launched with in November 2018, the brand Mona Kattan founded with Huda Kattan as a Huda Beauty fragrance line. The number refers to the rounds of formulation it took to finish, according to the brand's naming system. Kayali names Gabriela Chelariu as the perfumer. The house encourages wearing it alone or layering it, and sells other vanillas, such as Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli 64, as separate fragrances.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kayali stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

It suits a wearer who wants vanilla front and centre. Powdery facets and brown sugar make it a poor match for anyone who avoids sugary scents.
