Wardasina, inspired by Xerjoff Wardasina (2012)

Wardasina opens on herbal notes before Bulgarian rose moves to the centre, powdery and full. Saffron, a spice with a leathery, faintly metallic warmth, joins patchouli in darkening the rose, while cedarwood keeps the heart dry. Underneath, tobacco brings a rounded, slightly sweet depth that vanilla and musk smooth out. The result is a rose with weight and shadow, closer to an oriental than to a fresh bouquet.

About the original

The name means 'little rose' in Arabic, according to Xerjoff. It launched in 2012 as Sospiro Wardasina, a 100 ml eau de parfum from Xerjoff's sister line, and many shops still use that name. Xerjoff now sells it under its own name in the Vibe collection, in 50 and 100 ml. Launch coverage in 2012 described it as stark, dark, animalic and resinous at first, turning smooth and full-bodied. The perfumer has not been documented, and it is not known whether the move to Xerjoff branding changed the formula.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Xerjoff stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Rose over a tobacco base is the draw, so it makes most sense to someone who already enjoys spiced or oriental roses. Wearers perceive it differently: one commenter on its launch picked up mainly sharp, lavender-like herbs and only faint rose. Xerjoff does not label it by gender, and we list it as unisex.

Tobacco leads the base, and vanilla with musk turns it mellow while some of the rose remains.

Is Wardasina the same as Sospiro Wardasina?

Yes. It launched in 2012 under the Sospiro name and is now sold by Xerjoff in its Vibe collection. Whether the formula changed in that move is not documented.

Is Wardasina a sweet rose?

Xerjoff describes a powdery rose softened by saffron and patchouli. The sweeter notes, vanilla and tobacco, sit in the base.
