Afterglow, inspired by Phlur Afterglow (2025)

The top is fruit and froth: a squeeze of citrus, the fuzzy tartness of apricot skin and a foamy coconut note that is more milk than sun cream. Lavender milk, a softened lavender with a rounded edge, then joins ambrette, a seed with a musky, faintly pear-like smell, and vanilla. As it settles the sweetness turns golden and resinous, carried by amber, sandalwood and cashmere woods, a smooth synthetic wood note with a cosy, knitwear feel.

About the original

Afterglow is a Phlur eau de parfum composed by Clement Gavarry, according to the brand. Phlur, the influencer-led brand associated with Chriselle Lim, classes it as a woody amber and uses the tagline 'a warm amber rush'. Its launch is dated to 2025 by a blog and a fragrance reference rather than by Phlur. Like the rest of the range, it is not marketed to a specific gender.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Phlur stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its appeal is to people who want sweetness with some body: customer reviews on Phlur's site mostly call it warm and sweet, and some mention wearing it by day as well as in the evening. The coconut and vanilla are noticeable, so it may feel too rich for anyone who avoids gourmand notes. Lavender here is milky rather than herbal.

The drydown is sandalwood, amber and cashmere woods, sweet and resinous, close to a vanilla-tinged wood.

Does Afterglow smell of coconut?

Coconut foam is in the opening and gives it a milky feel early on. It fades into lavender, vanilla and amber, so the finish is more woody amber than tropical.
