Utopia Vanilla Coco 21, inspired by Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco | 21 (2021)

Coconut milk sets the tone from the first spray, joined by honeysuckle and pear blossom, with a little Italian lemon to stop it going flat. Underneath, the flowers grow fuller: jasmine sambac, gardenia and tuberose bring a heady, almost buttery richness. Ambrette, a seed with a musky and faintly fruity smell, bridges them to the base. Bourbon vanilla and sandalwood finish it in a smooth drydown shaded with patchouli.

About the original

Kayali launched Utopia Vanilla Coco on HudaBeauty.com on 25 June, reportedly in 2021, and the brand's blog says the formula was created in May 2020. The official page credits Gabriela Chelariu as the perfumer. The number 21 is its iteration number, and the original is sold as an Eau de Parfum Intense. It is a separate scent from Kayali's Vanilla | 28 and Vanilla Royale | 64, despite the shared vanilla in the name.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kayali stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Kayali presents it as a summer scent, and coconut with white flowers sits naturally in heat. People who find coconut or heady tuberose cloying may struggle with it. Kayali also intends it for layering with other scents.

They are separate fragrances. Utopia Vanilla Coco | 21 puts white flowers and coconut first, with vanilla in the base, while Vanilla | 28 is the brand's original vanilla scent, which we also make.
