Addict, inspired by Dior Addict Eau de Parfum (2002)

Mandarin leaf gives Addict a green, slightly bitter citrus start, quite unlike the sweet fruit, and orange blossom comes in almost at once. Jasmine sambac, the rounder and slightly fruity variety of jasmine, carries the centre. Bourbon vanilla then takes over and stays, so the overall impression is a white floral resting on a thick layer of vanilla.

About the original

Thierry Wasser created the first Dior Addict in 2002. It was reworked in 2012 and again in 2014, when it returned in a dark blue bottle; perfume databases credit the current version to François Demachy. Perfume writers describe the 2002 original as darker and more oriental, with blackberry, tonka and sandalwood and a smoky edge, while today's formula is lighter and more floral. The Dior Addict Glow scents sold under the same name are separate fragrances.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dior stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Vanilla is the part to weigh up: it is generous and runs right through the drydown, so sweetness is never far away. Jasmine and orange blossom keep it in floral territory rather than dessert, though someone who avoids vanilla-heavy perfume will still find it too sweet.

Our reference is the eau de parfum Dior sells today, the 2014 version with mandarin leaf, orange blossom, jasmine sambac and vanilla. The 2002 formula is no longer made.
