If Eau Fraiche pulled the Chance idea toward citrus freshness, Chance Eau Tendre took the opposite direction. Jacques Polge composed it in 2010 around grapefruit and quince, two fruits that together produce one of the most distinctive openings in modern designer perfumery: juicy and slightly tart, halfway between fruit basket and floral bouquet. The heart adds hyacinth and jasmine for white floral lift, and the drydown rests on white musk, amber, and iris. The result reads softer and more romantic than the original Chance, and the perfume has become one of Chanel’s most consistent commercial successes since its release. How It Smells

The opening is fruity and bright, grapefruit leading with its slightly bitter citrus edge, quince adding a juicy pear-apple character that gives Eau Tendre its signature glow.
