Coco Noir, inspired by Chanel Coco Noir Eau de Parfum (2012)

Coco Noir starts with citrus that shimmers briefly over a fruity patchouli. Rose and geranium leaf then bring a slightly green, peppery floral note. The drydown is its richest phase: sandalwood, tonka bean and vanilla give a smooth, rounded sweetness, with incense and white musk adding a faint shadow.

About the original

Jacques Polge composed Coco Noir for Chanel, launched in August 2012 as an Eau de Parfum. It belongs to the Coco line that began with Coco in 1984 and continued with Coco Mademoiselle. Chanel describes it as a modern ambery fragrance. It is generally described as less dark than the name suggests and mellower than the original Coco.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Chanel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its rounded, ambery character suits wearers who like a sweet scent with polish. Sweetness is noticeable, though it stays refined rather than edible; anyone expecting something dark from the name may find it mellower than they imagined.

How does Coco Noir differ from Coco and Coco Mademoiselle?

All three belong to the same Chanel line. Coco Noir (2012) is described as mellower than Coco (1984), an ambery rose and patchouli scent with a sandalwood and vanilla base. We make Coco and Coco Mademoiselle as separate scents.

Is Coco Noir dark or smoky?

Less than the name implies. Incense is present in the base, but the overall effect is sweet and smooth.
