Coco Mademoiselle Intense

Coco Mademoiselle Intense, inspired by Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense (2018)

Patchouli is the backbone. Olivier Polge raised its dose above the original's, using a fractionated patchouli, a refined cut of the oil that smells woody and earthy without the damp, musty side. The citrus top survives intact, so the start is still lively, and rose and jasmine sit between the two layers. Vanilla and tonka thicken the base into what Chanel calls an ambery woody fragrance, fuller and rounder than its predecessor.

About the original

Chanel released the Intense in March 2018, building on Coco Mademoiselle, which Jacques Polge created in 2001. Olivier Polge, Chanel's in-house perfumer, kept the familiar structure and shifted the weight toward patchouli and the tonka-vanilla accord. It sits in the Coco Mademoiselle line next to the original eau de parfum and L'Eau Privée, both of which we also make.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Chanel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its weight sits mainly in the base, so once the citrus fades it reads as dense and enveloping. Patchouli is prominent throughout; if that note already feels earthy or heady to you in the original, there is more of it here. The sweetness comes from vanilla and tonka rather than fruit.

Orange and bergamot give the opening its sparkle, carried over from the original Coco Mademoiselle.

Rose and jasmine form the heart, though patchouli already shows through underneath.

The drydown is patchouli wrapped in vanilla and tonka bean, smooth and ambery with a woody edge.

How is it different from the original Coco Mademoiselle?

The Intense has a larger dose of patchouli and a stronger vanilla-tonka base, so it is darker and fuller. The citrus opening and rose-jasmine heart are shared.

Is Coco Mademoiselle Intense sweet?

Moderately. Vanilla and tonka add a rounded sweetness at the base, but patchouli and citrus stop it from turning sugary.
