Sweet, inspired by Lolita Lempicka Sweet (2014)

Sweet leads with cherry treated like a fairground toffee apple: glossy, sugared and deliberately playful. Underneath, cocoa absolute adds a darker, faintly bitter edge that keeps the sugar from turning thin. Iris and angelica, a herb whose root smells green and lightly musky, bring a dry, powdery coolness to the heart. The base is musk with cashmeran, a modern material with a fuzzy, woody feel.

About the original

Anne Flipo created Sweet for Lolita Lempicka, and it launched in October 2014 as an eau de parfum in a red apple-and-heart bottle, with Elle Fanning fronting the campaign. It is a flanker of Le Premier Parfum, the house's first fragrance, but steers firmly towards cherry and cocoa. Lolita Lempicka also sells So Sweet, a later flanker with a different formula. The brand now describes the Sweet formula as vegan and One Voice certified.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lolita Lempicka stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Sugar is the point here, and the brand itself calls Sweet a gourmand. Fans of cherry, chocolate and lipstick-like iris will feel at home, while buyers wanting fruit that smells freshly picked may find it too candied.

Cherry dominates the first minutes, glazed and lip-gloss shiny, with a sugar accord that recalls boiled sweets.

Cocoa then darkens the picture, and iris with angelica gives the middle a dry, powdery texture that tempers the candy.

Musks and cashmeran carry the finish, fuzzy and musky, with only a trace of the fruit left.
