Vanilla Blend, inspired by Zielinski & Rozen Vanilla Blend

Vanilla Blend does what its name says. The first spray recalls pure vanilla extract, a little boozy and dark. Over time it dries into a powdery sweetness with a balsamic, resin-like depth that stops it tipping into sugar. It changes little from start to finish, which is the appeal for some and a limitation for others.

About the original

Zielinski & Rozen is a perfume house from Tel Aviv. Vanilla Blend was on sale by 2018, when it was among the house's six scents introduced in Russia; its launch year is not documented. The brand markets it as unisex. It is a different fragrance from Z&R's Black Vanilla.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Zielinski & Rozen stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Vanilla lovers looking for something less sugary than a gourmand will find the balsamic side welcome. It is cosy rather than fresh. Anyone expecting a scent that evolves through distinct stages may find it too simple.

The start smells of vanilla extract: dark, slightly boozy and sweet.

As it settles, the vanilla turns powdery and balsamic, closer to vanilla pod and resin than to cake or caramel.

Is this the same as Zielinski & Rozen Black Vanilla?

No. Both are built around vanilla, but Vanilla Blend is a separate fragrance from Black Vanilla.

Is Vanilla Blend still made?

We have not been able to confirm whether Zielinski & Rozen still produces it.

Is it very sweet?

It is sweet, but the balsamic warmth and powdery finish keep it from smelling sugary.
