Candy Kiss, inspired by Prada Candy Kiss (2016)

Musk runs through every stage of Candy Kiss, and it is the slightly soapy, laundered kind rather than an animalic one. Orange blossom gives it a pale floral glow, honeyed but not heady. Vanilla sits under both and adds sweetness that stays polite. The overall shape is simple and close to the skin, more cotton sheet than confectionery.

About the original

Prada launched Candy Kiss in March 2016 as an eau de parfum flanker to Candy, composed by Daniela Andrier. Launch materials spoke of a sensual veil of musk evoking white cotton, and the campaign was fronted by the model Lexi Boling. It is a separate fragrance from the 2015 Kiss Collection, a limited set of 20 ml minis of the existing Candy scents. Candy Kiss no longer appears in Prada's current Candy range, and it has reportedly left department stores.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Prada stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A skin scent at heart, it is the gentler choice when the original Candy feels too rich. The caramel and benzoin are gone, replaced by musk that some describe as powdery and others as soapy. Next to a dense gourmand or a fruit-heavy scent, it reads as restrained, almost shy.

It opens on musk straight away, with orange blossom close behind giving a light, slightly sweet floral tone.

As it dries, vanilla comes forward and settles into the musk, leaving a powdery, cotton-clean trail with very little change after the first stage.

Is Prada Candy Kiss discontinued?

It is no longer listed in Prada's Candy range, and buyers report it has been withdrawn from stores. We have not seen an official date.

Is this the 2016 Candy Kiss or the Kiss Collection minis?

The 2016 eau de parfum built on musk, orange blossom and vanilla. The 2015 Kiss Collection was a set of small bottles of other Candy scents.

Is it as sweet as Prada Candy?

No. It is cleaner and more musky, without the caramel base of the original.

Is Prada Candy Kiss coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Prada that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
