Climat, inspired by Lancôme Climat (1967)

Aldehydes give Climat its sparkling, slightly soapy lift, with bergamot and lily of the valley adding a green freshness. Narcissus and tuberose fill the heart, rich and creamy against powdery violet and rose. The base is dry and woody, with vetiver, sandalwood and musk, plus a touch of civet and tonka bean.

About the original

Gérard Goupy created Climat for Lancôme in 1967, naming it after André Maurois's novel 'Climats'. A limited eau de parfum reissue followed in 2003, and in 2005 it returned in La Collection as an eau de toilette with a square bottle. Vintage and modern versions are reported to differ significantly.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lancôme stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lovers of vintage aldehydic florals will recognise its style instantly. It feels polished and powdery. The soapy aldehydes and powder are deliberately old-fashioned, closer to a 1960s dressing table than a modern floral.

Is Lancôme Climat still made?

We have not been able to confirm whether Lancôme still produces it. Some retailers still list the eau de toilette.

Which version is this based on?

It is inspired by the 1967 original, with notes from the classic pyramid. Vintage and later versions, including the 2003 and 2005 reissues, are reported to differ.
