Plain Soleil, inspired by Yves Rocher Plein Soleil (2019)

Plein Soleil, French for full sun, is built on two heady white flowers. Tuberose gives a buttery, almost fleshy floral note, and ylang-ylang adds a banana-like, slightly custardy sweetness. Cardamom, a green and lightly camphorous spice, keeps the pair from feeling heavy. Sandalwood forms a smooth, milky base, so the overall impression is sunlit and floral rather than dessert-like.

About the original

Yves Rocher launched Plein Soleil in 2019 as part of its Pleines Natures fragrance line. The composition is usually credited to Fabrice Pellegrin. Yves Rocher sells it only as an Eau de Parfum, in 30 and 100 ml. Its short official note list (tuberose, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and cardamom) gives it a clear, uncluttered structure.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Yves Rocher stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A good fit for someone who enjoys tuberose in a short, uncluttered composition. It sits between fresh and rich, and the cardamom stops it turning cloying. Those sensitive to heady white flowers may still find the ylang-ylang dominant.

Cardamom and tuberose meet first, the spice cool and green against the flower.

Ylang-ylang fills out the heart with a sweet, sun-warmed floral note that recalls suncream more than sugar.

Sandalwood gradually takes over, smooth and lightly woody, with the tuberose lingering on top.

It is floral rather than gourmand. Ylang-ylang brings some natural sweetness, while cardamom and sandalwood keep it balanced.
