L'Interdit Intense

L'Interdit Intense, inspired by Givenchy L'Interdit Eau de Parfum Intense (2020)

The white flowers arrive together: orange blossom, honeyed and clean, and tuberose, fleshy and slightly rubbery. Patchouli and vetiver soon pull them downward into something earthier and more shadowed. Black sesame is the unusual touch, a nutty, toasted note that pairs with vanilla bean in the base. Compared with the 2018 Eau de Parfum, the result is deeper and more gourmand.

About the original

Givenchy launched L'Interdit Eau de Parfum Intense in 2020 as a flanker of the 2018 L'Interdit Eau de Parfum. Its perfumers are usually credited as Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal, the trio behind the 2018 scent. Care is needed with the name: Givenchy now also labels L'Interdit Absolu (2024) as an Eau de Parfum Intense, but that is a different fragrance with tobacco, lavender and cardamom. The 2020 Intense no longer appears on Givenchy's French or Canadian L'Interdit range pages, and two UK retailers show it out of stock.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Givenchy stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Women who already enjoy L'Interdit and want a darker, warmer version are the obvious match. The vanilla and sesame make it sweeter, and the patchouli gives an earthy darkness, so it is less suited to anyone wanting a fresh white floral.

Is L'Interdit Intense discontinued?

It no longer appears in Givenchy's current L'Interdit range, and several retailers show it sold out. Givenchy has made no announcement, and a few shops still hold remaining stock.

Is this the same as L'Interdit Absolu?

No. Givenchy now also calls L'Interdit Absolu (2024) an Eau de Parfum Intense, but that one adds tobacco, lavender and cardamom. This page is the 2020 Intense with tuberose, vanilla and black sesame.

How does it differ from the original L'Interdit Eau de Parfum?

It is darker and sweeter, with more vanilla and the toasted black sesame note in the base.

Is Givenchy L'Interdit Intense coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Givenchy that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
