Luna Rossa Extreme Prada, inspired by Prada Luna Rossa Extreme (2013)

Pepper and juniper berries give the opening a spicy, gin-like freshness, lifted by bergamot. Lavender, carried over from the first Luna Rossa, forms the heart. From there it turns ambery: labdanum, a resin with a dark, leathery-sweet smell, works with vanilla to make the drydown richer and sweeter than the 2012 eau de toilette. Launch coverage described a spicy freshness over an amber heart.

About the original

Daniela Andrier created Luna Rossa Extreme in 2013 as an eau de parfum variation on the original Luna Rossa. It reached European shops from late August that year, with the US launch reported for early 2014. It is no longer listed among Prada's current men's fragrances, and a major European retailer shows it as out of stock, although some sellers still offer remaining bottles.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Prada stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Compared with the original Luna Rossa, this is the choice for men who want more weight and a resinous base. Vanilla and amber make it noticeably sweeter, so it may feel heavy to someone after a minty, airy scent.

Is Prada Luna Rossa Extreme discontinued?

It no longer appears in Prada's current range and has been withdrawn, according to reports. Some retailers still sell remaining stock.

How does it differ from the original Luna Rossa?

Both share lavender, but Extreme adds pepper, juniper, labdanum and vanilla, making it warmer and more ambery than the minty 2012 eau de toilette.

Is Luna Rossa Extreme Prada coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Prada that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
