Miss Dior Cherie
39,00 €
Christine Nagel’s discontinued 2005 Dior icon. Green tangerine and wild strawberries into caramel popcorn, jasmine and violet, on a patchouli and musk base. Rebuilt at 40 percent oil.
The Discontinued Strawberry Popcorn Icon, 2005
Christine Nagel composed Miss Dior Cherie for Dior in 2005, and the result became one of the most distinctive feminine launches of the mid-2000s. The brief was unusual: a youthful sweet feminine built around wild strawberries, caramel popcorn, pink jasmine and patchouli, designed to appeal to a younger audience than the classical 1947 Miss Dior chypre. The popcorn note was unprecedented in mainstream feminine perfumery. Dior reformulated and renamed the perfume in 2011 (rebranded as simply “Miss Dior” with a different composition by Francois Demachy), effectively retiring the original Christine Nagel composition. Original bottles now command premium prices on resale platforms. Our interpretation brings the iconic composition back.
How It Smells
The opening is bright and fruity, green tangerine leading with wild strawberries adding a juicy slightly tart fruity sweetness and pomelo contributing a quiet citrus lift. Within ten minutes the unusual centre appears: caramel popcorn (the perfume’s signature accord, novel in 2005) takes a leading role, rendered as warm slightly buttery and gourmand without going saccharine. Violet and pink jasmine thread through the heart. The base is where Miss Dior Cherie earns its iconic reputation. Patchouli grounds the composition with earthy depth (rendered as polished modern), crystalline musk smooths the drydown into a clean modern finish, and the strawberry character continues into the later hours. The overall impression is playful gourmand floral, polished but unexpectedly fun.
The Notes
Top: green tangerine, wild strawberries, pomelo.
Heart: caramel popcorn, pink jasmine, violet.
Base: patchouli, crystalline musk.
How Our Version Compares
With the original out of production, finding Miss Dior Cherie has become increasingly difficult. Dior has not reissued the original Christine Nagel composition, and resellers stock authentic bottles at climbing prices with varying freshness. Our European Union production at 40 percent perfume oil concentration brings the composition back at proper density, with the strawberry tangerine opening sparkling cleanly, the popcorn jasmine heart holding through the wearing, and the patchouli musk drydown lasting well into the next day on clothing.
Common Questions
Is the original really discontinued?
Yes, since 2011. Dior renamed and reformulated the perfume into a different composition called simply “Miss Dior.” The original Christine Nagel strawberry-popcorn composition is no longer in production. Authentic original bottles are increasingly rare on resale platforms.
Does it really smell like popcorn?
Yes, distinctly. The caramel popcorn accord is one of the most recognisable features of the composition and what gave Miss Dior Cherie its cult status. It reads as warm buttery slightly gourmand, paired with the strawberry and patchouli in a way that smells unmistakably like Miss Dior Cherie rather than literal popcorn.
How does it differ from the current Miss Dior?
Completely. The current Miss Dior (2011 onward) is a different composition by Francois Demachy with bergamot, rose, jasmine and patchouli in a more classical floral chypre register. The original Miss Dior Cherie is a playful strawberry-popcorn gourmand. They share a name but represent very different perfumes.
Best season and occasion?
Year round, with a slight lean toward autumn for the gourmand patchouli base. The composition is built for daytime through casual evening wear; it suits dates, weekends and casual social occasions particularly well.
How long does it last?
Eight to ten hours at our concentration, with the patchouli musk strawberry drydown lingering on clothing into the next day. The 40 percent oil approach extends the wearing beyond the original.
