Escale A Portofino, inspired by Dior Escale à Portofino (2008)

Escale à Portofino is built like an Italian cologne. Bergamot, lemon and petitgrain, the bitter-green oil distilled from the leaves and twigs of the orange tree, make a bright, slightly herbal opening. Orange blossom and bitter almond give the middle some roundness, and juniper adds an aromatic note. The drydown is clean and quiet: cypress and cedar with musk, nothing heavy or sweet.

About the original

François Demachy composed it in 2008 for Dior's Cruise Collection, later called Les Escales de Dior, a series named after travel destinations. Portofino, on the Italian Riviera, gave this one its name and its Mediterranean ingredients: Calabrian bergamot, Italian citron, Sicilian petitgrain and Mediterranean cypress, according to Dior. A limited-edition summer bottle followed in 2023, and the eau de toilette is still part of Dior's range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dior stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Warm weather suits it best. It is cologne-like by nature, so it is the right pick when you want freshness rather than presence. Gourmand fans will find nothing sweet to hold on to.

Only faintly. Bitter almond is listed in the heart, but citrus and orange blossom lead.
