Midnight Rain

Midnight Rain, inspired by La Prairie Midnight Rain (2006)

Midnight Rain begins with tropical guava and tart pomegranate, sharpened with mandarin and a little freesia. The fruit soon gives way to white lily and vanilla orchid, a combination that feels lush and slightly sweet. Plum flower and amber flower add depth to the heart. Patchouli, vetiver and cashmere woods then darken the drydown, finishing in musk.

About the original

La Prairie launched Midnight Rain in the United States in September 2006 at Neiman Marcus, two years after Silver Rain, making it the house's second fragrance. A European launch was reported for late September 2008. It came in a black teardrop bottle, and a Sheer Mist and a Body Veil were also produced. La Prairie no longer lists any fragrance on its official websites, and Midnight Rain has been withdrawn according to retailer and collector listings.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not La Prairie stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Retailers positioned it as an evening fragrance, and its dense fruit and lily heart supports that. Early wearers found it sweet and fairly heavy, which suits lovers of opulent fruity florals. Pared-back, airy scents are not its territory.

It is no longer listed by La Prairie, which no longer sells fragrance on its official sites. Retailers show it as sold out.

How does Midnight Rain differ from Silver Rain?

Silver Rain (2004) is a woody white floral with bergamot and green apple. Midnight Rain is darker and fruitier, built on guava, pomegranate, lily and patchouli.

Is La Prairie Midnight Rain coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from La Prairie that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
