Neroli Portofino Forte, inspired by Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Forte (2016)

Forte keeps the citrus top of Neroli Portofino but doubles down on what sits beneath it. Blood orange and bergamot open, with basil and lavender giving an herbal lift and galbanum for green bite. The orange-flower heart is noticeably fuller. Instead of the original's airy finish, it settles on woods and musk with a supple leather note.

About the original

According to its launch text, Forte was a 'bold, exhilarating intensification' of the 2007 Neroli Portofino, with a double concentration of its floral core set on Italian woods and smooth leather. It went on sale in February 2016 in the Private Blend line, first at Harrods, in the same season as the lighter Neroli Portofino Acqua. Forte is a separate scent from Neroli Portofino Parfum, a later version that Tom Ford still sells. Neither Forte nor Acqua appears in the range today.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Wearers who like Mediterranean citrus but miss some depth underneath are the natural audience. The leather and woods give it a darker finish than most neroli scents, which may surprise anyone expecting pure cologne freshness.

Bergamot and blood orange open, sharpened by basil and a green thread of galbanum, a resin that smells of crushed stems.

Neroli and orange blossom take over in the heart, fuller than in the original, with lavender keeping them aromatic.

Woody notes and musk form the base, while leather gives it a smooth, shadowed finish.

Is Neroli Portofino Forte the same as Neroli Portofino Parfum?

No. Forte was a separate 2016 Private Blend release with leather and woods in the base. Neroli Portofino Parfum came later and is still sold.

Is Neroli Portofino Forte discontinued?

Tom Ford no longer lists it in the US or UK, and we have found no official statement about it. The original Neroli Portofino remains in the range.

How does Forte differ from Neroli Portofino Acqua?

They launched together but went in opposite directions: Acqua was the lighter take, Forte the denser one with a woody, leathery base.

Is Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Forte coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Tom Ford that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
