A Shot Of Thai Lime Over Mango, inspired by Jo Loves A Shot of Thai Lime over Mango (2012)

Kaffir lime hits first, green, zesty and a little bitter, with mango beneath it adding fruit without much sugar. Within minutes mint leaves and white thyme push the scent into herbal territory. Vetiver, a grass root with an earthy, smoky dryness, gives the base its grassy finish, and black pepper runs through it lightly. Freesia also appears in the 2012 note list.

About the original

Jo Malone composed it for her London house Jo Loves as one of three scents in the 2012 Mango Collection. In July 2020 Jo Loves re-released it under the shorter name Mango Thai Lime, and it has since grown into a full collection with bath, body and home products. The 2012 version was an eau de parfum; the current one is sold as 'A Fragrance', which retailers list as an eau de toilette, so the concentration may differ. Apart from dropping freesia, the 2020 note list matches the original.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jo Loves stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Gender-neutral and easy to wear, as The Non-Blonde found it, it leans fresh and green rather than tropical-sweet. Mango is present but restrained. Mint and thyme may feel too brisk for someone hoping for a soft, fruity perfume.

Is A Shot of Thai Lime over Mango the same as Jo Loves Mango Thai Lime?

Mango Thai Lime is the 2020 re-release of the same scent under a shorter name, with nearly the same note list. Jo Loves still sells it.

How does it differ from A Shot of Oud over Mango?

This one is green and citrusy, built on kaffir lime, mint and vetiver; the oud version turns peppery and woody. Both came from the 2012 Mango Collection.
