Basil & Neroli, inspired by Jo Malone London Basil & Neroli Cologne (2016)

Basil comes first, green and peppery with an almost aniseed sharpness. Neroli, distilled from bitter orange blossom, follows with a fresh, slightly honeyed floral note that keeps the herb from feeling austere. White musk closes it, clean and smooth. Jo Malone calls it fresh, fun and playful, and the scent stays light from top to base.

About the original

Basil & Neroli was launched by Jo Malone London in September 2016, with Anne Flipo as perfumer. It belongs to the brand's standard Cologne line, which the house presents as unisex and designed for 'fragrance combining', layering one cologne with another. It is a different scent from Lime Basil & Mandarin, the older Jo Malone cologne that also features basil.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jo Malone London stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Herbal-citrus fans will feel at home with it, and it suits summer and everyday wear. The basil has a distinct green bite, so anyone expecting a sweet orange blossom may find it more savoury than floral.

No. Lime Basil & Mandarin is an older, separate cologne built around lime; Basil & Neroli (2016) pairs basil with orange blossom. We also make Lime Basil & Mandarin.

Is Basil & Neroli a Cologne or a Cologne Intense?

The original is from Jo Malone's standard Cologne line. Our version is an eau de parfum.

Does it smell like basil?

Yes, clearly at first. Neroli and white musk soften it as it dries down.
