Noir Pour Femme, inspired by Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme (2015)

Kulfi, a frozen Indian dessert of reduced, spiced milk, is the odd and memorable centre of this perfume. Mandarin and bitter orange, sparked with ginger, open it quickly before the milky accord takes over, with rose, jasmine and orange blossom adding only a faint floral tint. From there it slides into vanilla and amber over sandalwood, while lentisque (mastic resin) adds a piney, resinous note.

About the original

Tom Ford introduced Noir Pour Femme in July 2015, first in travel retail, as the feminine companion to the men's Noir of 2012. It came in an opaque black oval bottle with ribbed sides, and the composition is usually credited to Sonia Constant. Fragrance references also list a later eau de toilette under the same name; this page refers to the original eau de parfum. Tom Ford no longer lists Noir Pour Femme, while Noir, Noir Extreme and Noir de Noir remain on sale.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Sweetness is the defining trait, so it rewards people who like vanilla and dessert notes. It sits closer to a gourmand than to a floral, and some find the dry-down powdery.

Vanilla and amber dominate the base, with sandalwood and lentisque giving it a woody, resinous anchor. Some wearers notice a powdery finish.

Is Noir Pour Femme discontinued?

Neither the American nor the British Tom Ford site lists it now, and many owners have reported it as discontinued, although we have seen no official announcement. The rest of the Noir range, including Noir, Noir Extreme and Noir de Noir, is still sold.

Is Noir Pour Femme very sweet?

Yes, sweetness is its main trait. The kulfi accord, vanilla and amber push it towards a gourmand.

Which version is this, the eau de parfum or the eau de toilette?

Our scent takes the original 2015 eau de parfum as its reference, as it is the best-documented version.

Is Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Tom Ford that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
