Orchid Powder, inspired by Montale Orchid Powder (2018)

Orchid sets the tone, a plush floral with a faintly milky texture. Ylang-ylang adds a yellow, slightly banana-like richness, while the white flowers keep the bouquet broad and smooth. The longer it sits, the more powder and vanilla rise, until the scent resembles a sweet face powder over musk. Some reviews also note a coconut-like softness in the middle.

About the original

Montale, the Paris niche house, launched Orchid Powder in 2018 as a unisex Eau de Parfum. Its official note list is hard to pin down, and fragrance references disagree on the details, so only the notes they share are given here. Montale Powder Flowers, which the house still sells, is an unrelated composition. Orchid Powder no longer appears in Montale's online range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Montale stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its sweetness is persistent, which is the main thing to know before buying. People who like cosmetic, vanilla-dusted florals will find it comforting, while anyone who dislikes sugary or powdery perfumes is unlikely to warm to it.

Orchid and ylang-ylang open together, lush and rounded, with white flowers filling out the bouquet.

Over time the powder grows, and vanilla turns the floral heart sweeter and more cosmetic.

The finish is musk and vanilla, soft and sugary, with the orchid still faintly present.

Is Montale Orchid Powder the same as Powder Flowers?

No. They are separate Montale fragrances. Powder Flowers is still sold by the brand; Orchid Powder no longer appears in its range.

Does it smell of coconut?

Some descriptions mention a lactonic, coconut-like softness, but coconut is not a confirmed note. The core is orchid, ylang-ylang, vanilla and musk.

Is it very sweet?

Yes, the sweetness is one of its defining traits and stays into the drydown.

Is Montale Orchid Powder coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Montale that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.

Inside the EU, delivery is free on orders of €49 or more. Below that it is a flat €4.99. Outside the EU, delivery is a flat €4.99 on every order. We send every order in 1 to 2 working days.
