Herbal Aquatica begins green and aromatic, with sage adding a dusty, savoury leafiness to the citrus and mint. Green tea and papyrus follow; papyrus is a reed note that smells dry and slightly woody, like paper and cut stems. A small amount of caramel runs through the heart, an unusual touch in a herbal scent, and it links up with the vanilla sugar in the base. Amber and sandalwood ground the finish.

About the original

Montale classes Herbal Aquatica in its fougère family, the herbal, aromatic style of perfumery. The brand's story sets it on the Nile, with lotus and papyrus by the water and a breath of sea spray. fragrance references place its release around 2022. Despite the aquatic name, the official note list is mostly herbal and green, and the marine side comes from the description rather than a listed note.
