Potion For Women, inspired by Dsquared2 Potion for Woman (2012)

Blackberry and violet set the tone at once: dark fruit with a powdery, floral edge, freshened by bergamot. Rhubarb adds a tart, green crunch in the heart, set against rose and white florals. The base turns deeper, with vanilla and black amber smoothed by white musk and grounded by patchouli. Fragrance writers class it as a fruity chypre-floral, and the patchouli is what keeps it from reading as a plain fruity sweet.

About the original

Christine Nagel composed Potion for Woman, launched in September 2012 as the women's counterpart to the 2011 men's Potion. Dsquared2 marketed it as 'the scent of seduction'. The official name uses the singular 'Woman', although many retailers and databases write 'Potion for Women'. It is not among the fragrances on Dsquared2's site, and one fragrance reference suggests production has stopped, though the evidence is thin.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dsquared2 stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

This is for a woman who likes fruit in a perfume but wants something less sugary than a candy-style blend; the rhubarb and patchouli supply that contrast. It is still sweet, with vanilla and powdery violet in the mix, so anyone wanting a crisp or austere scent should look elsewhere.

Is this the same as the men's Potion?

No. The men's Potion (2011) is a spiced amber with mint and cinnamon; Potion for Woman is fruity and floral, by a different perfumer.

How sweet is it?

Moderately. Blackberry and vanilla make it sweet, but rhubarb and patchouli add tartness and depth.

Is Potion for Woman still made?

It no longer appears in Dsquared2's range, and according to reports, production seems to have ended. Dsquared2 itself has said nothing on the matter.

Is Dsquared2 Potion For Women coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Dsquared2 that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
