In The City Of Sin, inspired by Kilian Paris In the City of Sin (2012)

Bergamot and pink pepper give a lively start, with cardamom adding a cool, aromatic spice. The fruit comes next: plum and apricot, ripe and jammy, wrapped around Turkish rose. Incense threads through the heart and turns the mood darker. Cedar and patchouli finish it on an earthy, dry note that holds the sweetness back.

About the original

Kilian launched In the City of Sin in October 2012 as part of the In the Garden of Good and Evil collection; fragrance references credit Calice Becker as the perfumer. At launch it was compared to a lighter version of the fruity, spicy style associated with Serge Lutens, with a leathery, tea-like drydown. It is no longer listed on Kilian's websites for the US, UK, France or the wider EU, and the brand has not published a statement about it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kilian Paris stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Sweet at the start, the scent turns resinous and woody, so it reads as moody rather than cheerful. Its fruit may feel too jammy to anyone who prefers clean florals.

So far, we have found no announcement from Kilian Paris that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
