Pure Xs Night

Pure Xs Night, inspired by Rabanne Pure XS Night (2019)

Sweetness is the point here. The first spray pairs ginger with ginseng, a root with an earthy, slightly bitter tone, but the spice soon gives way to cacao and vanilla. Cinnamon keeps the middle from going flat. Caramel, presented by Rabanne as salty and spicy, dominates the base, with myrrh casting a resinous shadow beneath it.

About the original

Rabanne announced Pure XS Night in January 2019 as a darker companion to Pure XS from 2017, which itself spun off XS from 1993. The brand called it an 'intriguing oriental' and built it around ginseng and salty-spicy caramel. IFF perfumers Caroline Dumur, Anne Flipo and Bruno Jovanovic created it. It no longer appears on Rabanne's official sites and several retailers show it out of stock, although the brand has made no public statement about it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Rabanne (formerly Paco Rabanne) stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Gourmand lovers are the obvious audience, since caramel, cacao and vanilla carry most of the wear. Buyers looking for something fresh or citrusy will find little here beyond the brief ginger opening.

Ginger and ginseng give a spicy, rooty start before the sweeter notes arrive.

Cacao and vanilla then take over, with cinnamon adding a dusty spice that keeps the sugar in check.

The drydown is caramel and myrrh: sugary and slightly salty, with resin underneath.

Is Pure XS Night discontinued?

It no longer appears in Rabanne's official range, and several retailers list it as out of stock. Rabanne has not commented publicly.

How is it different from Pure XS?

Pure XS (2017) leans on ginger, thyme, leather and myrrh. Night replaces much of that with cacao, caramel and ginseng, so it is the more dessert-like of the two.

Is Pure XS Night a men's or women's fragrance?

Rabanne released it for men. The women's scent in this family is Pure XS for Her (2018), a different fragrance.

Is Rabanne (formerly Paco Rabanne) Pure Xs Night coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Rabanne (formerly Paco Rabanne) that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
