Rose The One
39,00 €
D&G’s discontinued 2009 rose-led The One flanker. Pink grapefruit, mandarin and peach into rose, lily and peony, on a vanilla amber musk base. Rebuilt at 40 percent oil.
The Discontinued Rose The One, 2009
Rose The One launched in 2009 as the rose-led flanker to D&G’s 2006 The One feminine, designed as a brighter daytime alternative to the original. The brief was a polished rose composition built around pink grapefruit, mandarin and peach at the opening, rose, lily and peony at the heart, and a base of vanilla, amber and musk. Where the original The One reads as warm oriental feminine, Rose The One pulled into fruity floral rose territory with cleaner daytime character. Dolce & Gabbana discontinued the composition years ago, and original bottles now circulate primarily through resale platforms at climbing prices. Our interpretation respects the polished rose character.
How It Smells
The opening is bright and slightly fruity, pink grapefruit leading with its juicy bittersweet citrus character, mandarin adding sweeter citrus warmth, peach contributing a juicy stone fruit nuance, and a quiet sparkling brightness threading through the early phase. Within fifteen minutes the floral heart unfolds: rose takes a leading floral role rendered as fresh and slightly fruity rather than jammy or deep, lily adds a quiet floral support, peony contributes a soft fresh floral depth, and a soft floral nuance continues threading through the middle. The base is the perfume’s polished anchor. Vanilla provides quiet gourmand warmth (lighter than in the original The One), amber wraps the composition in luminous depth, musk smooths the drydown, and a quiet woody character grounds the finish. The overall impression is polished fruity rose feminine luxury.
The Notes
Top: pink grapefruit, mandarin, peach.
Heart: rose, lily, peony.
Base: vanilla, amber, musk.
How Our Version Compares
With Rose The One discontinued, finding original bottles has become difficult through standard retail. Resale platforms continue to list bottles at climbing prices, often around 180-240 dollars for original 100ml. Our European Union production at 40 percent perfume oil concentration brings the composition back at proper density, with the pink grapefruit mandarin peach opening sparkling cleanly, the rose lily peony heart holding through the wearing, and the vanilla amber musk drydown lasting well into the next day on clothing.
Common Questions
How does it differ from the original The One?
Brighter and rose-led. The original The One is a warm oriental feminine with spice and tobacco. Rose The One replaces the oriental warmth with rose, lily and peony for a cleaner daytime character. Same The One family, rose expression.
Is the rose prominent?
Yes, distinctly. Rose forms the perfume’s central note at the heart, supported by lily and peony rather than dominating alone. The fresh slightly fruity rose distinguishes the composition from typical rose feminines that lean jammy or powdered.
Best season?
Spring and summer especially, when the bright fruity rose character reads at its best. The composition was clearly designed for warm-weather daytime occasions.
How long does it last?
Six to eight hours at our concentration, with the vanilla amber musk drydown lingering on clothing into the next day. The 40 percent oil approach extends the wearing significantly.
