Sunshine Man

Sunshine Man, inspired by Amouage Sunshine Man (2015)

Lavender opens it, herbal and clean, but orange brandy and immortelle quickly add a candied, liqueur-soaked richness. Immortelle is a yellow flower that smells of honey and hay, and here it gives the sweetness a faintly smoky edge. Juniper berry brings a gin-like crispness to the middle along with clary sage and bergamot. Over time it all sinks into cedarwood, tonka bean and vanilla, which together read like a soft custard.

About the original

Amouage released Sunshine Man in August 2015 as the men's companion to Sunshine, the women's scent of 2014. Pierre Negrin and Fabrice Pellegrin created it under creative director Christopher Chong, and it launched in a single 100 ml size. It no longer appears on Amouage's US or EU sites, and one fragrance reference records it as no longer marketed, though the brand has made no announcement. Sunshine Woman is a separate fragrance that the brand still lists.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Amouage stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Sweetness is the first thing to know about: one detailed review found the early stage strongly sugary, close to bubble gum. Fans of lavender gourmands and boozy orientals will enjoy that, while a man hoping for a crisp barbershop lavender may not.

Is Amouage Sunshine Man discontinued?

It no longer appears on Amouage's US or EU websites and fragrance forums list it among discontinued Amouage scents, although the brand has made no official statement. Some retailers outside the EU still sell remaining stock.

Is this the men's Sunshine or Sunshine Woman?

This is Sunshine Man from 2015. Sunshine Woman (2014) is a different fragrance.

How sweet is Sunshine Man?

Quite sweet, especially early on, with candied orange brandy over lavender. It finishes on tonka and vanilla.

Is Amouage Sunshine Man coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Amouage that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
