The Chronic, inspired by Byron Parfums The Chronic (2019)

The Chronic smells sweeter than its note list suggests. Cinnamon and pepper give a prickle of spice at first, but the overall effect is often likened to a fizzy root beer or cream soda. Patchouli and leather add body underneath, and sandalwood with white musk smooths everything into a rounded finish. It changes little from start to end.

About the original

Byron Parfums, a French niche house, released The Chronic in 2019, describing it as evoking a comforting break over an Irish coffee. A flanker, The Chronic Rouge Extreme, followed in 2021. Despite the slang name, it does not smell of cannabis; the profile is spicy and gourmand.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Byron Parfums stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Fans of sweet, spiced gourmands will find it comfortable rather than challenging, and it is mostly worn in cooler weather. It is fairly linear and quite dense, so anyone wanting a scent that evolves, or who dislikes soda-like sweetness, may find it one-dimensional.
