Cigar, inspired by Rémy Latour Cigar (1996)

Cigar opens on fruit: plum and pineapple lead, with pear and Amalfi lemon around them. The heart turns herbal as bay leaf comes forward with geranium, marigold and jasmine. Tobacco then takes over, dense and a little smoky, over patchouli, sandalwood and Virginia cedar.

About the original

Rémy Latour is reported to be a line of Parfums Parour, a Paris company founded in 1986, and fragrance references date Cigar to 1996. Fragrance references mostly list it as an eau de toilette, though at least one lists it as an eau de parfum. It later gained several flankers, including Cigar Blue Label, Cigar Black Wood, Cigar Commander and a 2012 Cigar Premium Collection.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Rémy Latour stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A US retailer suggests it for evenings and cooler months, which fits its heavy tobacco finish. The fruity opening makes it more approachable than a dry tobacco scent. Buyers wanting a clean or fresh fragrance should skip it.
