Dune, inspired by Dior Dune pour Homme (1997)

Fig is the thread running through Dune pour Homme: green fig leaf at the start, then the drier, milky smell of fig wood. Blackcurrant adds a little tartness up top, and herbs keep it from turning fruity. Dior frames the whole composition as fresh, woody and oceanic, and it has an open, airy quality. The drydown rounds out with sandalwood and cedar, sweetened slightly by tonka and vanilla.

About the original

Dior launched Dune pour Homme in 1997, six years after the women's Dune, and the two are separate compositions. Dior credits it to Olivier Cresp and presents it as a scent of seaside walks. It is now part of Dior's Dioriginals collection, where the brand says Francis Kurkdjian has restored the original formulas, and Dior sells it there as an eau de toilette. Some wearers have reported that batches from recent years smelled greener than older ones.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dior stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Dior's own imagery points to warm weather by the sea, and customers echo that. The base carries a little vanilla and tonka, so men after a crisp, sporty freshness may find it too mellow.

In the heart, fig wood gives a drier side, with rose and mignonette (a small, faintly sweet garden flower) adding a floral thread.

The men's: Dior Dune pour Homme from 1997. The women's Dune (1991) is a different fragrance, which we also make.

Is Dior Dune pour Homme discontinued?

No. Dior still sells it as an eau de toilette, now within its Dioriginals collection, despite occasional rumours to the contrary.
